Arturo Mosquera DMD and Art@Work are pleased to present, Second Star to the Right and Straight on till Morning, a solo exhibition by Beatriz Monteavaro. The exhibition is comprised of outer space drawings, photocopies, rock posters, and will approximate Monteavaro’s teenaged bedroom.

The title “Second Star to the Right and Straight on til Morning” comes from the 1953 Walt Disney version of Peter Pan. It is the directions to Neverland that Peter gives Wendy and her brothers. In the story Peter Pan enters the children’s bedroom one evening and he takes them to the imaginary location Never Neverland.
However, in Monteavaro’s installation, the 80’s English rock star Adam Ant will supplant Peter Pan, orchestrating an escape from the bedroom setting into outer space.

Resonance/Dissonance, features six women artists from the de la Cruz Collection, Tracey Emin, Quisqueya Henriquez, Beatriz Monteavaro, Sarah Morris, Aida Ruilova, and Susanne M. Winterling.
Resonance/Dissonance brings together works in an immersive environment to demonstrate the powerful ways in which artists have employed single-channel video and sound as a platform for formal and conceptual experimentation. These women artists have exploited the range of video's artistic potential and used the medium to explore themes of gender, violence, sexuality, the body, and popular culture.
Exhibition will be on view at - Frost Art Museum - Florida International University
From Saturday, June 18 through Sunday September 18, 2016.
